Okay, in one year my TSH jumped from 1.6 to 4.5... my endo told me this is normal as long as it's in the 'safe range' (0.7 to 6.4).

Can anyone confirm this? I didn't know it was supposed to jump around like that.

i also have a thyroid problem. my docs told me that anywhere from 0.4 to 5.0 is normal. when my problem was first diagnosed, my level was around 150, which obviously was not good at all.

you might not notice anything right away, but if you start feeling tired, depressed, can't lose weight, dry skin, or always feel cold, you may want to get checked. you will end up taking Synthroid for the rest of your life, which is alot better than not feeling well.

overactive thyroid may also occur, which has the exact opposite symptoms of underactive thyroid...

as long as its in the normal range don't worry. Just keep a check on it maybe another one in 6 months then in a year if that one is ok too. My son has a nodule on his thyroid and so far his TSH has been normal so endo says just do the TSH once a year as I had to do when my nodule was found.

Yes, that is correct. Your hormone levels differ through out the day, every day, just like your pulse and b/p is different.
