about ten years ago i was walking to school with my friends. there was a church about 500 feet away next to my school.the church had a tall pole like figure sticking up in the sky.me and my friends noticed at the tip there was a star, in broad daylight. once we got next to the church and looked up again, the star was gone. was this a sign from God, or was it just a coincidence?

Coincidence
Think about it, millions of people are starving, raped, diseased, murdered every month in the world. But god put some ambiguous star atop some pole for you all to half-see and not be sure about? Come on.

It could go either way, but I have to agree with Carmas, if it was a sign, you should have felt that somewhere deep in your soul that God was trying to tell you something. Sometimes we recognize a sign from God, but we don't recognize the meaning right away. Maybe it was a sign, God saying "hey, this is the church you should go to" or "I'm watching over you", but then again it could have just been light reflecting off the tip of the pole (you ever notice a glare off metal usually takes the shape of a star??). If you really want to know, pray about it. Tell God what you saw, but that it wasn't clear enough to know if it was a sign, and if it was, what the sign was about. Ask him to send you a clear sign that you will understand as a confirmation of that sign.

So... how do you know your friends saw the star? Did you ask them? Did you say "man, do you see that star?"

Then, how do you know your friends didn't see it?

Now, how do OTHERS believe what you say you saw?

I could point out that on top of a pole is a sphere, and the sun shining on a sphere can reflect a starlike figure. Moving changes the angle of the sun against this sphere, and the reflected "star figure" would disappear.

In any event, NONE of this affects whether this was a sign. A sign is such when interpreted by the beholder. If you believe it a sign, and find some actionable message, then go for it.

What I believe has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with YOUR life. It's up to you to believe and act in a way consistent with your faith, morals and ideals.

It could have been a trick of the eyes.

From the original angle, it looked like it was at the tip of that pole. As you moved in, the position of the star changed--presumably behind something if you didn't see it again.

It's hard to say. I wasn't there.

But I will point out that I've seen some things at a distance that turned out to be different up close. I wouldn't consider them a sign from God.

Also, if it were a sign, what was it saying? An optical illusion doesn't convey much of a message. If God was trying to tell you something, I'd think it would be something recognizable. I wouldn't think God would be so inept as to hope that a disappearing star would mean anything.

It wasn't a sign from god. The star either blew off, broke off, you were just imagining the star in the first place, or when you looked up again you looked at a different part of the building.

Could have been. Could have been a warning, or a sign he's watching over you. I've gotten some signs, I felt were from God. Got me out of some situations I didn't want to end up in.

Well I will put it to you this way, if it was a sign from GOD you would have known it inside of you and you would not have to question yourself. So consider this a coincidence. Hope this helps =)

If you believe in God then why not just trust that it was a sign from him. A gift for you and your friend to see:) I choose to believe that when I see things like that, they are gifts sent for me from him.
