My three dogs have been sick for a week now. They have a slight cold and a "very" dry cough. I was told that I can give them baby strength cold remedy for "humans." I made the mistake of bathing them last friday afternoon and I guess it was too cold. I made sure to blow dry them thoroughly but they still got sick. My 3 month old was scheduled to receive her vaccinations and de-worming shots this saturday. Will the vet still administer the shots if she is ill???

Have they seen the vet? The doctor will be able to tell you what is and is not safe to give them.

I'd be wary of giving human medicine without checking first, if it has tylenol in it, it can be very dangerous. But a humidifier with some Vick's Vapor Rub (or the liquid they make for humidifiers) is safe. We've used that before on the vet's recommendation, and it's very helpful.

Don't beat yourself up about the bath, being wet in cold weather doesn't cause colds, that's just an old wives' tale. It's a simple virus.

Your vet may or may not decide to delay the vaccines and worming. You may want to get the puppy seen anyway, because a cold can be much more serious for them than for an adult.
