Honestly, I have never done kept my chewing gum on the bedpost overnight. There are several reasons for this:

1. I don't chew gum very often. And when I do, it is usually just briefly to freshen my breath after eating something spicy, or anything else that leaves a stench in the mouth.

2. If I'm chewing gum when I go to bed, I'll just throw the chewed-up gum away and then get a fresh piece when I want to start chewing again.

3. I never had bedposts on my bed when I was growing up. And I still don't now.

Generally speaking, yes, depending on how long you chewed it before sticking it there. However, a fried chicken leg on a string will retain its full flavor flavor on a bedpost for several days, assuming the dog or cat don't nab it. You can test this, but stop the test when the flies really start piling up.

My goodness it is years since I put any chewing gum on the bed-post, I wasn`t allowed to when I was a child at home, it was all done somewhat illicitly as I recall. Then at university, I couldn`t afford such a luxury as gum! After that it sort of went out of my life, perhaps it`s time to get re-acquainted.

My mother said "Don't chew it" but I swallowed it in spite. Then I caught it on my tonsils, and heaved it left and right, but it didn't lose its flavour on the bedpost overnight

ta da!

The song was originally called 'Does Your Spearmint Lose its Flavour...' and it was first recorded by Ernest Hare and Billy Jones in 1924

I tried it once, and it lost the little it had. More important:
Will your kickers loose their odour on the bedpost overnight...
I don't care to investigate that one. If someone has experimented, hopefully they will share!

Depends on how long you chewed before hand. I find that sticking it behind my ear enhances the flavour.

How about throwing the gum away and get a fresh piece?

Only slightly. I tried it once, and the flavor was nearly the same as when I last chewed it the night before.
