I read all 12 books earlier this year (all within 2 1/2 months)
My partner brought me the first book for Valentines Day, unsure of whether I would read it or not. (He is Christian/I was Atheist)
I got completely hooked on the story after the first chapter. It was so eye opening and captivating of the imagination. Since reading the series, I went on to explore Christianity further and recently became a Christian myself.

(Edit: Thank you Faithful)

I started reading the books about 3 and a half years ago,and finished last summer. Actually, the books were quite helpful to me, because I went to the bible to check the accuracy of the information regarding the Apocalypse, the Rapture, and the meeting of Christ. I did find some inaccuracies in the the books, I think because the authors took creative license and tried to make it entertaining the general public, but the series did cause me to actually pick up the Bible and read, and now, I am very interested in the Word, to the point that I actively research parts of the bible I want to know more about. I do think the authors strung us out to make us hold on the the end of the books, and the last book was kind of anticlimax.

The Left Behind series was very informative. Yes, the relationships were fiction, but the message is clear. The author also wrote a book called "Are We Living In The End Times?". It's a very informative read if you haven't already.

To be fair I haven't read them but based on the reports and reviews I personally would avoid the negativity and the dark, destructive message promoted by this fiction.

I'm repulsed by the concept of Left Behind the way some Christians are repulsed by the Harry Potter books. It's ironic because Harry Potter arguably promotes Christian values better than Left Behind.

I don't have a lot of time to read extra books, but I did listen to the entire series here

It took quite awhile to get through the whole thing, but it's awesome. It's not just read to you, it's an audio drama so it's acted out. It's really cool and gives you a different prespective than reading it yourself. Really draws you in. Check it out. Doesn't hurt to at least listen to the first chapter. Just click on the first book and 12 chapters will come with each book. Each about 1/2 hour long, but it's worth it.

i picked up one of the Left Behind books at Walden's one time. it had HUGE print, double spacing and wide margins. these are the first indicators of an inferior literary product. upon reading a page or 2 i found the wording so simplistic and infantile that i was dismayed to know that it was such a hot selling book. the popularity of the Left Behind series doesn't bode well for the intellectual integrity of America. how can so many people be so impressed with such obvious tripe? pathetic.

PS. i thought the movie was hilarious tho. are there angels specially charged with folding the clothes of those who are raptured? hehehehe!

A work of fiction - emphasis on fiction. Hal Lindsay has been spreading and preaching this fiction for decades, as has Tim LaHaye.

Even said once that he knew when Christ was returning. Christ didn't. Still no rapture yet. What's that the Bible says about false prophets? Something about them being destroyed?

But the books are a fun romp, if you remember they're fantasy & fiction, based on Biblical andhistorical fantasy & fiction.

Well, I haven't read them, but I can say from working at a bookstore that they are very popular, they look well written, and there are very many of them, so for me it's always great to find an author or storyline that I just love and there SO many to read!

Stupid, poorly written, poor character development, ridiculous plot, horrible theology. The series undermines fundamental Reformation theology concerning the end of the world, and advocates the outlandish theories invented by John Nelson Darby in the 1820's. There is no Biblical precedent for anything in the Left Behind series. The characters are over-simplified and stereotypical, right down to their names.

But that's just my opinion...

I've read the kid series. I believe that it exaggerates alot, but who know 100% what is gonna happen? I believe that the main idea (the rapture) will happen, but too many people are gonna belive every single detail.
