Isaiah 55:8-9 says

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts".

I think this is right.

Think of the capacity and limitations of the human brain. We expand our minds greatly just to figure out some basics of the earth.

Would you want a G-d that is fully comprehendible to you? One that can be fully understood by a human? Does that sound like a very powerful G-d?

I like one that is SO far ahead af a human, I can barely understand a thing. We DO need faith to believe, as he is so ahead of us.

Any thoughts on this??

Blessings to y'all

Almighty God Jehovah [ Exodus 6;3] has said in the bible that we will never know ALL there is to know about Him.
But when he had the Bible written, it was for our benefit. And because he created us, He realizes our limitations.
Why would a loving God not want us to understand what He is trying to tell us through the Bible.
There is not much point in having it written at all UNLESS He knows we CAN...WITH PROPER STUDY...KNOW IT.
Understanding the Bible is quite different from knowing ALL there is about God himself.

I completely agree with you! God is so far above us that, if we could understand even a small fraction of HIM, our brains would explode; if you know what I mean. This is why so many people can't grasp the concept of the existence of HIM. God grants wisdom to those who open their hearts to HIM, and that's why we can understand HIM and "get him", if you will. Those who choose not to open their hearts to HIM also choose not to open their eyes or their minds to HIM, and that's why they can't understand or "get" HIM. Wisdom is the key to all things in the eyes of God. Those who see this are blessed. Those who don't are cursed. That may sound a little harsh, but in all honesty it's the truth. There is still hope for them. They still have the power to except HIS wisdom and have their names put in the Lambs Book of Life. Maybe if all believers on this site say a pray for the lost, a few of them will come around. God will never give up on them so we shouldn't either.

I agree that if we understood fully the will of God in a way we would all be gods. However if what your saying is true why do people claim to know the absolute will of God. God should make sense to us. Honestly i dont think God is ahead of us. We are creating him as we get ahead. God is an idea that keeps adjusting with the times. If God wanted us to all believe he would give us all proof that we all would accept. It would be a matter of sinning not looking for a religion.

God created absolutely everything! The best us humans have been able to come up with to try to figure that out is a THEORY of a big bang.

It has been proven that we use only a very small percentage of our brains. God created those brains. We have just scratched the surface to what we can do. How could we ever begin to believe that we can figure out God when we can't even figure out how to use our own brains?

God was kind enough to give us an instruction book in the Bible to find our way to Him and unfortunately many STILL can't figure it out.

The Atheists say that "seeing is believing" when we as Christians are intelligent enough to know that "believing is seeing."

God bless you too!

LOL, amen!
If God is limited in His power and omniscience to the boundaries of human imagination, what kind of God is that?
Not one I'd want to worship.
There are things about God we won't understand this side of heaven because He is God and we are human beings. This is not a limit on God but on human understanding. If I as a christian cannot explain every single attribute or historical reference of God, this does not make God less of a God. It just means as you referenced above in Isaiah...His ways are higher. This is also what makes study of Him so exciting. He is an inexhaustible source of interest and study. Thank you God for being my God.

If God did exist, I would want to understand him. Anyone who thinks differently simply has a need to be inferior. I have no desire to be inferior. I find no comfort in anything "greater than myself."

If God purposely created humans to be creatures incapable of understanding him (and therefore far more likely to worship him), that is an act of vanity. I would not want to live under a being who created a race of creatures simply to worship him. That's sick.

Logicaly speaking, God knows everything and Humans do not. If humans knew everything, they would be God. If God did not know everything, it would not be God.

I put this question to you, simply because something is impossible or incomprehensable, does that not make the goal of understanding it all that much more virtuous?

You do have a way to stir that pot. But, good for you. At least the truth is out there for all to see. And the truth is the truth. Who can know it?
