This is absolutely possible. That is why experts say for elderly people to have cats. They are less maintenance the dogs and are very keen on your feelings. I have two cats and if I am crying, my eldest comes up to me and rubs on me and purrs. If I am sick in bed he'll come and lay with me. If my husband and I are arguing he will cry (meow) and rub on us. It's really cool. We never yell at each other anymore because we know that it upsets him and It's not worth it. Cats are more in tune to your feelings then dogs as a matter of fact. Dogs just seem to be more in tune because they will love you no matter what, cats are particular and only want love when they or you need it. Cats are awesome.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I owned two cats. The older cat was very much "my" cat, and very jealous of my attention. She definitely knew something was different about me during my pregnancy. In fact, as the baby started to move, it really freaked her out. Roxie would be sleeping in my lap, the baby [Katie] would move, and Roxie would bolt out like she had be pinched!
When I brought Katie home from the hospital, Roxie and Lillie [other cat] were waiting for us at the front door. Roxie got the first whiff of the baby, puffed up and started hissing, ran for cover and never accepted my daughter. Never. They fought like siblings for 15 years, no lie. Katie would walk into a room where Roxie was sleeping, the cat would look up and hiss at her, my daughter would hiss back. It was too funny. The other cat, Lillie, adored Katie. Even rocked her cradle when she was an infant and would be fussy.
Both awesome kitties. Roxie died at age 20, 3 years ago. Lillie died at the age of 13.

I would say that dogs and cats can sense that something has changed with you...I know that when I am feeling down, my cat becomes really loveable towards me. She will also sit between a friend and myself like she's trying to protect me.

He senses a change in you, probably doesn't realize that a baby is on the way. Animals have very sensitive noses. Your hormones have changed and you will smell different, amoung other things. Sounds like he is very tuned in to you.

Yes, it is. I had the same experience when I was pregnant. And only with one of our cats. I reas that cats can smell and sense changes in your hormonal system.

Dogs know when you're pregnant. I don't think cats have that good a sense of smell. So I doubt it.

I believe that pets can sense such things, and I am sure the cat can probably her the babies heartbeat.

Animals can be very sensative to their surroundings. They often do know things like in your situation.
