Yesterday I woke up with bad body aches, a stuffy nose, an itchy throat, a cough, and my head felt like someone had banged it on the floor. I literally slept all day without eating (I drank some water with some pain pills) and it happened again this morning. If it persists, I am going to the doctor. What else would you suggest I do to help calm my body down? I am in pain!

All you can do is keep the fluids going, get lots of rest, take some Ibuprophen for your pain, and keep the food in the soup variety. Gargling with warm salt water will help your throat. Putting Vicks under your nose will help you breathe better. And chicken soup is still the best thing to eat when sick. Drink some hot tea...it helps keep your sinuses flowing, plus it just makes you feel better. If you cough a lot at night, and have a hard time sleeping, try sleeping in your recliner. It will help you breathe better, keeping your lungs clearer from fluid build-up. If you can get your hands on one of those paper dust masks, put a glob of Vicks on the inside of it and wear it to bed. As you breathe into the mask, you activate the Vicks and create steam, which you then breathe in, making it easier to breathe. Getting rest is the key to getting better quicker, so these tips are all meant to help you maximize your rest. I hardly ever go to the doctor, as too many antibiotics can make you immune to them working anymore. Remember, most colds take about 10 days to run their course, with or without medication. So, it's just a matter of rest, and trying to feel as good as you can as you ride it out. And always wash your hands after handling your tissues or coughing. <*)))><

1) don't assume its the flu.....other symptoms can have same
2) go to doctor and get flu test
3) if you test positive for the flu there is medicine that you can be given to lighten your case or shorten the severe part of it (these are not antibiotics but especially for flu)
4) drink liquids
5) don't worry if you have the flu you'll sleep and stay in bed....
ones that "think" they have the flu don't...once you have it you'll know it
