If you're scratching her hard or fast, you may be stimulating her. I've read that vigorous rubbing or scratching sexually stimulates some cats, which is why they will sometimes bat or bite at your hand when you stop. They are getting overly excited. A cat's back is sensitive, just like a human's. My cats do the same thing if you scratch a certain part of their backs. It's normal.

Another possibility is that it is just a reaction. If she had an "itch" there, she would lick it. By scratching it, she may be sticking her tongue out as an involuntary reaction, as if she were licking it herself.

well like someone said its nothing sexual. My cat does the same thing when I rub or brush her, and she is spayed and declawed. I think if she may have itchy skin, then get some over the counter itch spray at either Walmart or Target for cats(not humans) and spray it on. She won't be itching and anything there should clear up. I had the same problem with a different cat. It may also be that she enjoys it.

my cat does this as well but goes a little further by turning his head at all angles and licking whatever hair he can get near his tongue. I think it is just an involuntary reaction to the scratching on the back. Some cats are just a little more sensative.

Her reaction to you scratching means she wants you to do it more and it pleases her. Many things can affect the skin on animals from the amount of water they are getting, to the type of food they are eating, etc. Scratching may make it worse, I would go to the vet

Could have fleas. They are hard to find sometimes. Look way back by the tail or get a flea comb. If no fleas, it's a reflex.
