no body be allowed to smoke, so what does that mean for those of us who are going to hell? I have always heard that where there's smoke there's fire, so does this mean that the fire thing will no longer apply?

Although I really can't find any seriousness in your question, I'm going to humor you.
Many people call themselves christian, but that doesn't make them one. Christians don't demand anything of anyone. We believe that the body is a temple, and know of course that smoking is bad for you. But that doesn't jeopardize one's place in heaven. I AM an evangelical Christian (ooohhhh, the worst kind) and I smoked for about 20 years. I'd probably be still smoking if my wife didn't bug the crap out of me to quit, and I have no doubt of my relationship with Christ.
SO... the official word is, you can keep smoking. Here and in hell. (But your lungs would really appreciate it if you quit.) I'll give you some tips if you like... I've quit many times. :)

Most Christians don't feel that smoking is a sin, only the more conservatives. The reason is that smoking damages your body, and your body is a gift from God, therefore you are abusing a gift God gave you. I have a friend that likes to say "Christians who smoke don't go to hell, but they sure smell like they've been there!"

If a Christian smokes that not only harms the individual, but second hand smoke harms others around them. A Christian loses any credibility as far as witnessing to others if they smoke. Smoking is very hard to quit, I know I did it twice the first time I went 15 years without smoking then started back and in no time i was a 2 and a half to 3 pack a day smoker and the second time was harder than the first, I at times doubted i would make it, but I did and it has been17 years now without smoking.

If a person loves God enough to quit smoking, that is a great testimony to their faith.

Smoking is targeted by environmentalists and health enthusiasts, not Christians. Smoking is a health risk, not necessarily a spiritual risk, though some believe that anything you do that is a risk to your body is a risk to your soul.

Even so, it's not the Mormons who lobby against smoking and hinder your ability to do so. As I understand it, that's an ideology they apply to believers, not something they pummel unbelievers with.

OLD: I am a Christian and can assure that you will not have a problem with "hell" since there is NO such thing !!! Apart from getting health problems from smoking such as cancer or breathing difficulties, it is YOUR choice to continue smoking or not ... God gives you the right to be wrong, as He does all of us !!!
NO ... the fire thing never has nor never, will apply to any human being !!! God is in the Saving Business !!!

It's not about what "christians" believe. You are not here to please any human on this earth. God only commanded that we LOVE one another. It is about your relationship with god.

There are christians who will not be saved when the end comes, and many false prophets who will lead people to think, that "God saves everyone" regardless of what they do. A false prophet can be your next door neighbor, relative, or someone posting on yahoo answers. It's anyone who twists the words of God.

We all know if our choices are pleasing to the Lord. We're not fooling anyone. If you participate in something, act a certain way, do a certain thing, or think a particular thought, if a small voice nudges you with the tiniest bit of correction, that is God lovingly speaking to you.

Your body is the temple of the Lord, and he knows when you are genuinely trying to live according to his word, or just doing what feels comfortable and convenient. For one person it may be smoking, for another it's gluttony, greed, envy, ect. We all have our temptations and weaknesses.

The question is, will you listen to the Lord, or continue to worry about what "christians" or any human thinks? Or will you ask yourself, if smoking would be pleasing to the God. Be blessed!

Don't blame the Christians. I've been led to believe it's the health care industry that's behind the ostensibly fascistic practice of depriving us of the public indulgence of this particular vice. What they should be doing is regulating the chemicals that can be put in tobacco products so they won't be so addictive.

Ummmm...I am a Christian, and I have never prohibited anyone from smoking....I smoke. I am ashamed of it, and I have asked God to heal me of it, but so far, I still smoke and I love it.

It isn't Christians, per se, who are on the non-smoking band wagon. It's people regardless of their faith who don't want to be exposed to second hand smoke. Can't say I blame them.

I'm sorry to burst your little bubble there but that has nothing to do with the Christians.....that is the public.....from all religions.....and from those who don't participate in religion...smoking wont send you to hell it will just make you smell like it...

Talk about anti-christian.....

Why do you think it is a 'christian movement'? There are alot more pressing things that need attention. The food you eat is about as carcinogenic as the smoke from a tip of a cigarette
