Use rollers and setting lotion. Buy the snap on, magnetic, plastic rollers with the smooth barrel and you will have great looking curls.

I answer this question all the time. All of my friend are hair dressers so when i have them curl my hair they always tell me not to wash it. unwashed hair holds a curl better, its a fact. wash your hair one day and wear it straight, maybe with a bit of mouse in it. Take a shower the next day but don't wash you hair. when you curl long hair you have to do it in sections. take one strand and curl the bottom up first and spray with extra hold hair spray ( don't cheap out and buy the cheap stuff if you want it to work. spend at least five bucks and it wont be really sticky but will hold better) then curl the top of the strand starting where you left off and spray it. this may take some practice. they learned it in beauty school but after a few tries I've finally got it down. my neighbor always curls my straight hair for me and that's how she does it. It always looks great! second day hair curls better and holds a curl better!!!! I kid you not!!

Well you'll probably have to put it on the highest heat. And while your hair is wrapped around the curling iron, spray it with the strongest hair spray you have, and hold for about another 10 seconds or so. Some people think it will damage their curling iron, but I've been doing it for years, and it doesn't. Hope this helped(:

I also have straight hair which doesn't hold curl ... I've been using a "spiral" curling iron. Since my hair doesn't curl well, it actually just gives nice body and some wave. Of course, a little hairspray afterward.

Hot rollers work well too. I hate the leave in curlers though, the ones you go to sleep in. My hair gets majorly tangled.

Try using hot rollers if you want a lot of curl. Or if you just want the ends to curl us a curved straightener. Thats what I have to do bc my hair won't hold curl very long at all.

I have the same problem. The only way I could get it to work was to braid it every night and curl it everyday...it's like I had to train my hair to do it. Also, if that won't work, try completly straightening your hair (even though it's already straight) before curling...it might help your hair from going back to it's natural state.

I have that kind of hair. Hairspray, gels, mousse, thickeners, hot rollers, curling irons don't work for us. I have found something that does work. Caruso steam rollers--they can be found at beauty supply stores. Also, as silly as this sounds, roll your hair very slightly damp on socks!! Roll a section of hair using a sock and when you get to the scalp tie the 2 sock ends in one knot. Great curls. It works.

I think you need to have layers put in your hair if you don't already. If that doesn't work you need to try having it heavily textured.

When your hair is wet before you blow dry it try using a strong hold gel, it will make a huge differents, much better than h.s. Use hair Spray after you get your desired style.

I also have long straight hair that goes to my butt. It's almost impossible to have curly hair because of the weight of your hair. You can lightly layer it to add some volume, which will create big curls.
