I'm 17, senior in high school and the clicka are set. all my guy friends see me as a friend or already have gf's. i'm wooried about not having a date for prom or the senior formals... so i wnated to try online dating.. problem.
1) i'm a little embarressed...
2)don't know what sites are good (and free)
3) is it safe??
anyone else have good (or bad) luck w/these type of sites??

Don't worry about any of that. Prom is not a big deal. I didn't even go to mine. BUT . . . I think you would be much better off looking around at the people in your school, because there is almost certainly a guy who likes you and/or needs a date and would go with you. Look outside of your clique. Surely you have an admirer if you're OK-looking! Forget all that clique nonsense. In the real world, you have to interact with all kinds of people -- not just the ones who have the same favorite color or favorite music as you. Try asking a few guys out! Just make sure that you don't get more than one date! Good luck!
Oh yeah . . . I forgot to mention, I have never seen a dating site that accepts minors. So you can really forget about that unless you're going to lie. And you could get some honest people in trouble by doing that, so DON'T! Good night!

..... Dont worry!..... Everyone's embarrassed if they're new at it... Try out a heap of different dating site's ( not the overly raunchy one's) until you narrow it down to a few you like... Put up your photo and detail's etc, then check out the detail's of the guy's.... Then, using common sense, and choosing carefully, contact 3 or 4 guy's, by email, webcam, or whatever, chit and chat, about this and that, and so forth, then pick out the 1 or 2 you like best.... If you wanna meet up fine, but do it somewhere public like mcdonald's, or pizza hut or somewhere, and have 1 or 2 big brother's sit 20 table's away, so they can look out for their little sister.... Every now and again, go to the loo, to phone your brother's, to let them know your plan's etc... If everything goes well, and he was a regular and really nice guy, then you might have got your prom partner... Also keep the other guy in the picture, in case guy no.1. had already made prior plan's for prom night, and only communicate about 2 or 3 time's a week if you can, because calling up to much can sometime's cause a friendship to lose it's spontaneity and freshness.... It is risky. Don't be embrassed, its shouldnt be treated any different than real life dating. myspace? its free and fun. and just be careful and dont give out for personal information

my advice. whatever you do.dont try those sites,
you'll find your perfect guy,one who appreciates you for who you are,and as for the prom thing-who cares! go with one of your girlfriends-it'll be just as fun...you dont need guys to have fun!

try plentyoffish.com its free and i have had some luck...kinda, it can be safe...just make sure if you ever meet someone its in a public place
