American employers know that Mexican Nationals are desperate and that they must bring in a certain amount of money to send back to Mexico and that they will work hard and long to keep any job. American citizens have always had starter jobs and they have always had the opportunity to move up and live among the middle class or higher with more education, more ingenuity and talent, etc. Mexican Nationals can get the jobs because relatives already here broker the position promising that cousin Jose will work his a ss off for him/her. That is why you are having trouble job-wise. There are 15+ million illegals here working AND collecting welfare (the women w/children) and ruining the schools, filling ER's, killing Americans (12 per day per one study) and in 15 years there will be 40,000,000 illegals, most of whom do not want to assimilate and help the country. One of my best friends is illegal - has been for 9 years - and I would hide him out from the authorities but that is just MY friend. Doesn't change the facts what the activists and elected officials and business owners have done to America. They have sold us out and they call themselves Americans. They need to be ID'd and prosecuted.

I can't help but notice that some of you who defend illegals didn't even bother to read that this poor person, presumably a citizen of the US, is willing to scrub toilets for minimum wage even.
Why should we defend illegals and vilify this person because he/she isn't willing to work for $20/day???
The min. wage itself is BELOW the poverty line!
I used to live in MI and I know that the inner cities there have a grave employment problem for our citizens- we shouldn't be rolling out the literal or figurative carpet for people who have a rich country that should be taking care of them and creating jobs. Afterall, an American cannot legally work in Mexico and god help ya if you become sick!
j u - good luck. maybe you should try changing your name, losing your SS card and learning spanish. seriously, i hope you find a job and one that pays you something.

I live in Cal. About 10 or so years ago, everyone was leaving Cal and going to Oregon. The Orogo's were pissed off. How dare the CA folks come up here and do us like this?
Kinda like now with the Illegals, huh? It's a human thing. NObody wants to be challenged on their own gig.
Me too. I scream like Hell about the Illegals but it doesn't matter.

People come to America because it's the "land of opportunity." Immigrants typically consider menial jobs as opportunities which Americans ignore as being too far beneath them.
Immigrants come here with a drive to work hard and many times they have an entrepreneurial spirit that creates businesses that create jobs.

I used to live in Texas and this is what the Mexicans do when they get in to town...and you can do it too.
They print business cards and fliers and canvas the neighborhoods putting the fliers on doors. The fliers advertise lawn mowing and house keeping services. They keep doing this until they have enough work to keep them going. They have pretty much saturated the job market in Texas and the southwest and are moving north in large numbers now.
The good news is that people are desperate to get lawn and housekeeping services from people who speak English. A Caucasian acquaintance of mine went in to a neighborhood to mow an elderly lady's lawn. Several people living along the street who saw him came up to him to ask if he could work on their lawns and do odd jobs for them too. He had some steady side-work going for quite a while...still does for all I know.

Better wages, yea right... more like free medical care in hospitals since they can't turn you away. Social Security benefits if you already have a family member in the states legally. the hits just keep on coming. even illegals have more rights in the U.S. than they do in Mexico... you do the math.

because your concept of work and security is soooooo very different that the average illegal from Mexico where $20 a day is good money......that's why.
if the shoe was on the other foot and you knew there was good wages in Mexico would you go.
I live here in Arizona and it seems more folks are arriving from Michigan everyday because of the poor economy and no jobs.
that's why.........................

They come to this country to get work because they know someone will hire them.
The companies that hire the illegals ought to get the hefty fines. Not like a $5,000 fine for hiring 20 illegals...I am talking about a $20,000 fine PER illegal worker. And if the company is fined a 2nd time, it is $30,000 per illegal worker PLUS they lose their business license for a year.
That would put a screaching halt on hiring illegals--even a big company couldn't afford to pay those fines...

All illegal immigrants should join and serve in the military to earn citizenship. It can happen. No free rides for citizenship or legalization. Will you stand with me and contact the senate like I did?
