Their icons used to be at the bar at the bottom of my screen but now they're gone and now i'm not sure how to disable them

Have you gone through Add/Remove in the Control Panel to see if they are listed?
Why would you want to disable these unless you have installed some other form of computer protection?

I usually right click on the taskbar icons and disable or exit programs. (you can restart the computer to get your icons back, or start the individual programs.
but if your not sure if they are still running press Ctrl+Alt+Del at the same time and bring up the task manager.
