It's always tricky when you have two pets and then one dies, but cats are typically easier than dogs so you've got that going for you :) My suggestion is to try to keep her more active in the late evening, so that she's tuckered out when you're ready for bed. My cat sleeps with me at night so he's gotten into the habit of curling up when I get into bed, so it might help you to let her into the room right when you're getting ready to go to sleep. You may not be ready for another cat yet (and neither may your remaining cat), so try the other options first. I hope this helps, and I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.

Get her some company, you just need to be careful introducing them. Make sure and keep the new family member sequestered somewhere where they can smell each other under the door for a few days before giving them unlimited access to each other. A cat of the opposite sex would be better, unless they are both fixed. Even then it all depends on how careful you are about them getting to know each other. Good luck, check out your local shelter for an older cat. Kittens can freak out older cats it might be a good idea to get a cat closer to your cats age. Shelters also greatly appreciate people who adopt older cats because they have a harder time finding homes for cats who are grown. Good Luck!

Animals have to cope with the loss as well as us. Your cat should start acting like herself in about 1 month or so. Before you get another cat make sure you get both cats together to make sure they would get along, don't just bring one home. Also try to get one around the same age as your current one, for example if she is 6 yrs old make sure you dont get a kitten your cat will not do well with the extreme change. Hope that helps.

I'm thinking another cat is the solution.
Go for it.
Get one slightly younger that she is so it will play with her.
The SPCA offers free "go backs". If it doesn't work out, take the kitty back and they will give you another to try. Really, it sounds a little cold, but they want the best "forever home" for all their kitties, and understands that cats are picky about their friends.
Good luck

Your kitty is looking for the other one and thinks you may know where he is
Why not allow the cat to stay in the room with you all night when you sleep. Keep him awake with you during the day and tire him out with play so he'll be ready to sleep when bed time comes.
Or simply keep distracting him with play, exercise. In time, he'll stop looking for the other cat.

I think she definitely needs another cat around. Once I was told that animals that have friends (other animals) that die can become so lonely that they die too because they stop eating, etc.
