My passport has my maiden name...do I have to get a new one in order to show my married name?
Can I leave the country using a ticket in my married name but have my maiden name on my passport?

If you have a US passport, you can get your passport amended to your married name. Here's the link to the US State Dept: http://travel.state.gov/passport/fri/ChangeName/ChangeName_851.html
You can travel using your maiden name, but with today's security rules they're looking for your photo ID (your passport) to match the name on the ticket, so you should change one or the other.

You need to get your passport amended. They stamp it in the back showing the name change. You can not travel using a ticket in your married name and have your maiden name on there.

You could just travel using your maiden name, but really wouldn't advise it so much. Just get it amended and be done with it and to ensure smooth travel.

It may vary depending on what country issued your passport and what countries you will be visiting on your trip. If you are traveling on a US passport you can check at the State Department website, www.travel.state.gov

I would highly recommend changing it beforehand if you have time. I have encountered problems even when traveling domestically when my friend's ID did not match the name on her tickets, and that was only a misspelling.

you need an affidavit of change of name as evidence to prove that you remain the same person despite your name change then add a copy to get new passport. No one in the immigration field will accept the ticket as yours.that was a mistake.get a new passport before time runs out.
