As a Christian, I would be reluctant to say it's a "sin against God" but it's self-abuse and wrong to do. I have been a Christian for many years and during part of that time was abused badly. Having recovered from that, I discovered during the course of my recovery that self-abuse is common in these situations and yes, I did some of that.
But never forget that God is always willing to forgive sin. He's very prompt about forgiving - it's us that take forever and a day to forgive ourselves. I still struggle with forgiving myself.
If you want to abuse yourself in ANY way, get help - abuse of self shows you need it.

Cutting across your arms like trying to commit suicide or do you do these little cut yourself things all the time. If it is a attempt at suicide, then yes, suicide is the only thing that God cannot forgive you for. If you do these little cuts all the time, your need to get some help, that is self mutilations, not good. Good Luck

I think God is a little busy right now. Seeing as half the damned world is starving and in turmoil it doesn't leave him a lot of time to worry much about your arm.
In this case, it is the opposite of Nike... Just Don't Do It....

I would not say that it is a sin. But think about what you are doing to yourself. Get counseling. I still have scars from doing it almost 10 years ago. I seriously regret even starting it. Now I can't imagine what I was thinking to hurt myself like that. Get help please.

Of course everyone is free to opinion so this is just me Im not God I will just say what I believe. The bible says we are made in the image of God would you cut God's arms? The bible also says "your body is the temple of Christ" meaning we should treat our bodys with the same respect we would treat God. Again this is just my opinion.

No, it isn't. What it is, is a sign you need professional help - and fast.
If you are self mutilating, there is something going on in your life that is making you want to punish yourself. There is so much pain or anger that you have an overwhelming need to release it by cutting. If you are, or know, someone who is doing this, please talk to someone about it.

it's not a sin. it's a sign of depression. a qualified therapist should be able to help you think of other alternatives to cutting. and a support group will be there to provide support and share their stories.
