As a special education pre K teacher, I have seen several children over the years who don't walk till they are 3 or older, although it is rare. A child who has low muscle tone is going to take longer to walk. You're doing the right thing by getting him physical therapy. Ask your therapist to give you exercises or fun activities for you to do with him daily. 30 or 60 minutes of PT or any therapy per week is not going to make a lot of difference; you need to work with him daily in order to see progress.
By the way, my brother (who is now 41) was born with Down's Syndrome, too. He didn't start walking till he was about 30 months old. He walks fine, has won literally hundreds of medals in the special olympics over the years for swimming, track, tennis, & golf. Keep on working with your son, and also talk to his doctor. Have him checked to make sure there is no other medical reason for him not walking. He should be able to bear weight on his legs more than what he is doing now. Best wishes to your son & you.

My brother was born with down syndrome, had one of the most sever cases in the united states. Though i cant say he really ever walked like you and i would, but after the physical therapy and the TLC my grandma gave him up until the day she past away, he did begin to walk.. Have u tried walker? Not like a typical baby walker but something that is a little bit bigger. my brother had one of them and it seemed to help a bit. or even possibly putting some type of brace on his legs.. maybe he just doesn't understand the concept of walking.. i know my son was almost 2 before he started walking.. but either way i wish the best for u both..good luck.....

my aunt's baby is 3 years and just crawling, no worries, but if ur scared, go to the Doc and get him tested. If you know ur baby has downs, then check th e common symptoms and effects online or straight from the Doc, just to be safe.
