I'm not a Christian, so I don't believe that Heaven or Hell exist. But if I did, I would be extremely uncomfortable with the thought of spending all of eternity in a single place, doing one thing forever. I mean, eternity is a very, very, very long time. Human beings think 100 years is a long time, but that's not even a drop in the bucket compared to forever. I'm sure that worshipping God would be very amazing and exhilarating, but how could a person possibly do that -- or anything -- for millennia and millennia and millennia? Are there any Christians out there who are even a little concerned that they might not be able to stand being in one place forever, regardless of how awesome or fun or peaceful that place may be, and regardless of how much you want to go there? Or are you all completely secure and comfortable with that thought?
I direct this question to Christians, although anyone with something to add, feel free to do so.

I'm not trying to say that I wouldn't rather "eternal paradise" over "eternal fire" -- I'm just wondering if "eternal paradise" is that much better in the long run (and again, not because of what is offered there, but because of the fact that it supposedly doesn't end, which doesn't particularly appeal to a person like me).
I guess I shouldn't really be surprised that most of you aren't uncomfortable with that thought. That's not a bad thing, but I guess you're all better men (or women) than I, because I definitely would lose my mind in that kind of place. Oh well. Thanks for all the responses at any rate.

Hi, I hope I can help answer your question.
It is difficult to imagine being content for all eternity, and God knows that it is hard for the finite human mind to concieve it that is why He says "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
An infinite almighty God is more than capable of finding something to keep everyone happy and excited about for eternity. Imagine being able to travel.. not just to a different country but travel beyond the earth. If you like music imagine being able to learn from the creator of music or hear the best musicians play, imagine being able to spend time with your friends whenever oyu want for as long as you want. Do you have a question? Imagine being able to ask thw only person who knows everything. If you like science (insert subject) imagine being able to study it forever. Like animals imagine when they are not deadly or afraid of mankind, not to mention being able to see animals that are currently extinct. Imagine being able to see family and friends that have died.
With all these things if it still seems like it will get boring God says "You can't imagine the things I have planned for those that love me."
"What are you going to do for all eternity" You are asking the wrong question. The right question is "What are you going to do... first." because there will be so much to do.
Does it bother me to think about "What I am I going to do for eternity?"
No, I trust that God, I know He has unlimited power and creativity I know He will keep me happy.

Jesus is the coolest guy here in earth.( don´t really care about heaven ) and why not. i spent10 years worshiping the Beatles, then the disco era, then the punk era, then i don´t remember but then nirvana came along , then well i think yahoo must be the up thing now since i spend more time with it than with my wife.then food, then dish network, then etc, i have gotten bored of all of the above,(except my wife) but someone who refreshes me in such way that i feel i can kick some *** to this ungrateful world, it is the almighty lord. oh yes, he´s the one. my way to worship god my not be the conventional ways you´ve seen in church. that´s boring stuff. i´m talking about facing problems or challenges with an attitude of a warrior, and that could never be done unless i being carried the my best buddy Jesus.

My place to spend eternity is on this earth when it's restored to paradise conditions, Psalms 37:11,29, Revelation 21:3,4. I believe it will be wonderful to have all eternity to do all the things I love, be with my family, my children, my wife, growing things, build my own home, studying God's creations, swimming, sailing, riding horses, hiking, I mean the things to do will be endless, and during all of this we will enhoy perfect heath, we will be young and remain young, never getting sick, animals and humans have no fear of each other and the animals will even obey a child, plenty of food and nice homes that we build for ourselves, I mean it will be pure paradise, eternal peace. And everyone will be our brothers and sisters throughout the earth, one big happy family. How could anybody not enjoy that?

I have not one problem with spending my time in one place. Why? Because you see, This place will be peace full, and full of love and compassion for each other. Can you imagine a place with no hate, a place with no killings, rape, stealing....etc.
I can not imagine a place like this...but am looking forward to the rewards of being in a such place as this.
I worship God now, so it would not be a burden to worship Him in Heaven either

Spend eternity in ONE place?
Well, it seems for 1000 years we will Reign with Christ in Kingdom on this earth.
And God has created the whole universe. Though we haven't been given detailed information, I suspect we will have eternity in which we can explore the Universe.
So, yes, ONE place ... ONE Universe.
>I mean, eternity is a very, very, very long time.
We seem so bound by time, the tyranny of time. But, time began, and time will end. Eternity will exist.
You say "I mean, eternity is a very, very, very long time." It seems to me that would be "a very, very, very long time" excluded from God's presence ... in some "black hole" in outer space.

God is so completely beyond what we can imagine as well as all-knowing, I have all confidence that heaven will be rewarding in many different ways. Compared to what's going to befall this earth(the ME now experimenting with spray diseases) I cannot think of another place I'd rather be. There's alot more to it than we can comprehend for sure.

Your first mistake is to think of eternity as "a very, very, very long time." Eternity is outside of time, as a sort of all-inclusive present, if you will.
God made man in His Image and likeness, and intended man to spend eternity with Himself. Because of this, heaven is the ultimate fulfillment of man's nature. Because it is the ultimate fulfillment of man's nature, it satisfies all desires, including the desire to be anywhere else.
So no, I am not uncomfortable with the thought of spending eternity in one place, but thank you for actually asking a legitimate question in an intelligent manner.

Uh no. It doesn't bother me. Which place would you rather spend. An eternity in fire, torture, pain, and the like (Hell) or peace, love, rest, and the like (Heaven). I wouldn't question the choices if I were you.
(Btw. I'm a goin' to Heaven! :D)

The gates of the city "are never closed" to the children of God. It is only the enemies of God that do not free access to go where they want in eternity. They will be stuck with devil.

Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, the heart cannot conceive, of all God has planned for those who love Him. We are not capable of understanding the glory that is to come. The beauty, peace, perfection, justice of heaven and life in the kingdom of God will be beyond anything I could, with my human mind, imagine.
No, I am not the least bit concerned about it. It will be the complete fulfillment of my heart's desire, to be with Him forever.
