Where can I get a free MPEG-2 decoder compatible with windows media player?

I have downloaded many things, none of them were right. The only things I can find cost $. When I do a web search it rarely gives me anything other then DVD decoder checkup utility(s). PLEASE HELP!

install tis and you should be able to play dvds in media player
