Yes. The whole point of a crock pot is to safely slow cook something without having to watch it. Just keep the cords out of kids/pets reach so the pot doesn't get pulled down. Also, don't create a fire hazard by plugging a ton of stuff, including your pot, into one plug. Other than that, you're good.

Yes -- it's called multi-tasking:
Sleep and Cook or
Work and Cook

Unattended cooking was the original selling point of these devices.
When the first came out, they were a rage for working mothers.

I worked in a rather large office, and it seemed all the mothers had something cooking at home in their crockpots.

Never a fire, just an easy unattended meal.

We do it all the time.
It's safe as long as it's in a safe place away from flammable items and on a sturdy flat surface.
Also, your crockpot has to be in good condition with no frayed wires.
Lastly, if your outlet where you plug in the crockpot gets very hot...then don't do it.

They're safe and are designed for unattended use - that's the purpose of them. I think that worrying about a crockpot is taking things too far, and is a "crock."

crockpots are intended to be left unattended. they are commonly known as 'slow cookers' and have a lid that is there for the purpose of containing moisture and flavor. Yes

There's only one thing I can think of that you shouldn't do with it & that is to put it in the refrigerator with the food in it. A friend did this overnight & as soon as it heated up it broke - food & liquid all over the place! Get your vegies, etc., ready the nite b4 but leave the pot out of the frig.

Otherwise your husband has nothing to fear. Slow cooking for 8-10 hrs is what its for. Time to get those recipes out!

i would have said yes before christmas eve, we had a bunch of people over and we had it on for about only 4 hours wasnt even overnight and the fisrt person that opened the lid to get some of the stuff we had in there the glass lid pretty much exploded because it was so hot, it completely ruined what we had in there because of the little glass pieces that shot in to it. i spent a good half hour cleaning it up

OH COURSE !!! Simply make sure that it is on a safe surface that if flat. The only way that your husband would have a leg to stand on per say is if you have faulty wiring in the house

You sure can. I use mine while I'm sleeping too. If you're concerned, buy a plug-in timer (the kind that turns the lights on/off) & plug the CP into the timer.

Of course you can. I have done this many times. Just place it on a safe surface on the lowest setting. It will be fine.
