My daughter is being harrassed by an old boyfriend and his current girlfriend. The harrassment has become violent (a beating of the new boyfriend) and malicious (a trashed vehicle). Although the police are involved already there are still little subtle things happening that we can't prove. How can we get it to stop? These kids are still under the age of majority, do you think we should approach the parents? The boy no longer lives at home, he's at his girlfriends - should we approach her parents? Should we involve the police more? I'm at my wit's end here, I don't like the fact that I'm worrying about my family's safety.

Police police police. Don't do anything that may be construed as inflammatory or provocative. Since he's a minor be very careful. However, this would probably fall under stalking laws which have recently been upgraded, so-to-speak. Get a cheap security camera and park the cars where it can see them get her a cell phone so she can call the police anytime. file as many complaints as is necessary.

If the parents care at all and would be of some help it would be good to involve the parents, but if there is no parental control there is little that would do other than stir up more problems.

In my experience, the more upset you get and the more you react to thier malacios conduct, the more they get off to it and the more they will do it becasue they see you upset.

Can;t tell you to let it go, but be judicious when you get upset, they get off to it and that is why they continue to do it. Ignore them if you can.

The police can proboly do very little in your situation. LIke you said prove it. Then you get into problems the police can't do anthing with to begin with ( civil probelms).

Good luck

Look, people always says Call the Police!! But when you call they tell you that they can't do nothing. Something worst happened to me and they almost want me to be with a knife hanging from my neck in order to proceed. They told me that they need it to see it. Sound it like that nut was going to give me an appointment!! The problem need to be solved, go and see the parents and try to have some pics or put some cameras, because they want proves. Good luck.

Get an attorney, and let him or her do the talking for you in civil court. Make sure you obtain a restraining order from the police. People that are being sued for money usually stop their non-sense. Set up cameras to record their misdeeds and let the judge see it. If they call, immediately let them know that everything they say is being recorded and take everything before a court of law. Hope you have caller ID.

What a cruel world.

Go to the girl's parents and make sure they know what kind of 'child' their daughter is hanging around with. By all means, DO, involve the police more. Get a restraining order.

And if all else fails, go to your local gun dealer...

No, no... I kid. I kid.

If that doesn't work, have your daughter carry aroumd a camera and when he messes with them have her take pictures and then you'll have proof.

This world... -Sigh.-

I would involve the police more. I would go to both parents and try to discuss the matter with them. Go to your states attourney, he will advise you on what to do also. Good luck and I hope things get better. You may want to put up cameras at your home if possible. To try to catch them doing something and having evidence would be grand.

I heard that you can buy a security camera system with 2 cameras for around 100.00 at Wal-Mart. Just another thing to add to your list of possible things you can do, but if you can get some cameras for that cheap it would be worth it.

It's a shame that this type of behavior goes on and I hope that you get some type of restraining order. Sometimes, offenders get worse once they are threatened, but you help from someone.
