My boyfriend and I have been together for about a year now. We have sex maybe twice a week and thats NOT enough for me. He admits to having a low sex drive and its because he's depressed sometimes. But when he doesn't seem to be depressed he still shows no intrest. He tells me he doesn't want to feel "forced" to have sex. So now I'm scared to initiate sex because i dont want him to think i'm "forcing" him. When we actually have sex, its great and we both enjoy it. He's totally aware of this problem and feels terrible. What can he do, or what can I do/say to end this problem? Anti-depressants are OUT of the question.

Well this is complicated because depression is serious and theres no way past it other than therapy or antidepressants. Why is it out of the question? Does he refuse to take antidepressants or do you not want him to?

If he refuses to take them it may be because he believes taking them will change his personality or change him which isn't the case. I refused to take antidepressants for a long time because i was afraid it would change how i acted. You need to have a talk with him about taking them and try to really convince him its what is best, this is the only solution to the problem if you dont want to leave him. Depression, if left untreated, only gets worse over time. Have a talk with him about it.

well. please dont get offended with me by saying this because sometimes it really is true... maybe he is gay or bi and just doesnt know it yet. ive heard storys similar to yours and the conclusion ended up with the person being gay or bi. but who knows maybe im wrong... you can always ask him to try something new. like instead of sex maybe do some other activity that might make him happy down there..
