It's absurd hes being executed, no matter when. I can't believe the hypocrisy of Bush, his government and supporters. Saddam killed 144 Iraqis... how many has Bush killed already? Bush should be hanged... by his balls... if he even has a pair.

From New York Times online:
The Muslim holiday of Eid begins Saturday for Sunnis, and Sunday for Shiites, who now control the government.
Iraqi law seemed to indicate that executions were forbidden on the holiday.
But Mr. Haddad was dismissive of those concerns, injecting some of the sectarian split that is pervading the country.
“The official Eid in Iraq is Sunday,” he said.
As for Mr. Hussein’s sect, he said, “Saddam is not Sunni. And he is not Shiite. He is not Muslim.”

I agree! Poorly chosen day and they knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they chose it!
I think it sends a terrible message to Muslims. It did not need to happen during Hajj, it could have happened earlier or waited until later. How would we Americans feel if Bush was executed on Christmas day? (Not a Bush fan, but I don't want a day of celebration to have a black cloud of death put upon it.)

i agree with you. Eid for muslims is a huge holiday and everyone meets with eachother and give gifts. its supposed to be a day of happiness. with saddams execution just before it, it'll feel weird to smile and laugh normally while knowing that he was hanged. i think of all the cruelty he did in his life and i understand why. but it doesn't make my heart feel any better.

Didn't he kill Muslims? I'm pretty sure he was driving the sect of Islam he believed in against another sect. So, no, I don't find it disrespectful. To many, I'm sure, it just adds to the Big Celebration.

why would it be dis disrespectful after all didn't he take Innocent lives so i say is n't better to sacrifice one for so many that have been lost because of him we here in America would not have so many lost to the deaths look at all those men and women that lost their lives not been able to celebrate holidays that our families celebrate and the best we can do is pray someday to be reunited for those holidays lost because of his foolish pride in war and greed, jealously so take their celebration use for morning if they really want morning we lost a expresindent on Christmas day evening Gerald ford. think about how his family will feel when next years, Christmas comes he not there at head off their table.disrespectful think not.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Muslims do not like Saddam Hussein because he is supposedly responsible for the death of thousands of Muslims. Celebrating is disgusting, I agree. Nobody should applaud execution.

I think it doesn't matter what day it is for Saddam to die, he killed many people, including children. If it was someone in your family he had brutally murdered you would be whistling a different tune. I say good riddance to him.

What a mockery! It is quite infuriating that they want to kill him on our holy holiday. It could've waited at least 5 days until after the fetivities. Their jesting disgusts me. Tsk tsk.
