HI, i tried to read the Bible a lot of years ago and didn't understand any of it...then one night a friend prayed with me and asked the Holy Spirit to give me understanding of it and WOW!! did i get understanding of it. Sometimes i can't put it down....but it depends how it's interpreted....
It shouldn't matter what we don't agree on, the important truth is that Jesus is the son of God...Jesus was born of a virgin...He came to earth in human form to show us the everlasting love of God the Father....He is coming back one day for all those who believe in Him, all those who call on His name....
The Holy Spirit is the one who reveals all truth....He wont intrude in your life but if you are interested just ask Him what you want to know.....
This is why we are called flaky...lol....

I started to read the old testament last year,I got as far as chronicles, it was very thought provoking. Joshua to 2 kings showing the true nature of the human being and also the reasoning of us being here, showing we are not here on a behaviour curfew, but to graciously revere God.
I have also read the new tesement, this I find more personal,as it is about the relationship between the creator and created,it explains that there is much more to God than man would have you believe,it explains Gods real nature with us,that he loves us no-matter how we live our day to day lives, and in regards of it being condeming, it releases us from that condemnation through a simple belief in that Jesus was sent to earth to pay the price for every bad thing done upon this earth,in so we are saved by the Jesus. What more can I say. I find that the more i read of it the more it blows your mind. And if you dont get it,then thats because God has not opened your heart yet.If you want to he will open it,you just have to ask him.

I haven't read it fully myself but it's the best book I have read in my entire life and believe every word. I like all the stories but the New Testament is the best. The Lord really speaks to me through it and I hope more people can be blessed with its wonderfull words

I have read it several times from cover to cover. It is one book you will either discard as a good job of writing poetry and fiction or the absolute God inspired truth. Most books you can take as fact or fiction. Not this one. If Jesus wasn't the Son of God as He claims to be, if He didn't rise from the dead as the Book claims He did then maybe you can just put it aside. In my mind the evidence is too strong for His Deity, His Resurrection and His return back into heaven. The writing seems to verify itself for one thing. The whole Book is tremendously brilliant. The prophecies themselves would have taken more than the human mind alone could conceive even if they were written later than it is recorded. I believe too much evidence points to the fact they were written when Bible scholars say they were. Also there were twelve disciples (except possibly John) who gave their lives because they believed Jesus was who He claimed He was, the Son of God and Savior of the world. These men were too ordinary, to want to suffer unnecessarily or to throw their lives away for no reason. Their lives were changed so dramatically from when they first met Jesus until after His Resurrection. All this convinces me Jesus is who He says He is, and since I have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior He has changed my life.

It's true it has some really good stories in it but they are badly written, spoiled and horribly debased. The Greek myths tell the same stories with better characterisations and narrative and are altogether much better. Most of the stories have been told and retold since time immemorial in one form or another and this still goes on. Pinocchio is the new testament, told better. AI is Pinocchio, told better.
Don't bother with the bible. It's a rubbish read.

Yup. NASB, New Jerusalem, much of the KJV, RSV, Today's English Version, and others.
There are significant differences between the different versions, without even getting to the apocrypha.
In general, there is lots of wisdom betweent the covers. There also, is lots of condemnation. The fundamental core of the Bible is that Sin must be paid for with blood. Jesus supposedly paid that price, and if you don't accept his sacrifice, you'll have to pay for yourself.
It also teaches that EVERY RELIGION not condoned in it's pages is folly and of the Devil. It teaches that EVERYONE who isn't a true Christian will suffer for eternity.

I haven't read it fully yet either and I've been a Christian most of my life. But it isn't just a book made by a normal author. Everything you read in it is definitely absolute Truth whether you believe in absolutes or not. I myself have questioned many things in it, but I have found everything to be true. Believe me, you won't here this from most Christians, but read it (with an open mind), question it, and search for the answers.

I have read it fully but do not remember it all. As a Christian myself, I read it daily and the word I recieve is always relevant to what is happening in my life or what I need to realise from God.

It shows that you are aware of your spiritual needs that you are even starting to read it. Many people never even get that far. The first time I read it, I really struggled with it all. Now, I have been through it at least 10 times and it is much easier. Amazingly, I learn lots of new things every time. It especially seems to help when I share what I have learned with someone else and we discuss it for a while. Often they will bring out other scriptures which helped them deal with the same things or that illustrate the topic we are talking about. May God bless all your efforts as you read and study his words.

I've read through it about three times completely, many books more than that. The scripture itself claims it is useful for rebuke and instruction in righteousness. It's not really intended to be a history book, as many people believe. However, I believe the scripture as originally written was God-inspired. There are a number of problems with traditional English translations, ranging from weather "day" in Genesis should really be translated as an indefinite period of time (as the Hebrew word is translated elsewhere) to "baptism", which is a transliteration of the word "immersed" that was coined by the translators of the King James Bible to avoid conflict (they didn' t immerse at the time). Moreover, the division of the first five books into Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus and Judges is not an original division, and is therefore probably not 'spirit inspired'. This, taken together with a theory that each book is written after only one of type (such a law, prophecy, history, etc.) has lead to a lot of misinformation, even among generally sophisticated Christians.
The Bible isn't the center of Christian faith, Jesus Christ is. If, as over 500 people claimed and many who saw him died for, He was raised from the dead then every other consideration is purely secondary. The best evidence does indicate that He did, in fact, arise from the dead. This proves His power over death, which He promised to share with those who believe in Him.

It has got some really good stories in it. It is of course a mass of contradictions, but that must be expected considering its` content, and the lenght of time it took from the story telling to the writing down of the stories.
