I am a MA but I was also a gymnast for a few years as well amateur.

To do a proper back flip, make sure you have three main things:

Matts for falling, a partner to assist until you can do it alone, and third proper clothing to not constrict you.

Bassically you arch your stomach up so their us almost a U curvurture backwards in your sping and both hands touch the matt while you are upside down and you have to quickly flip yourself over with momentum with your hands like a hand spring almost kicking your legs over to land on them where your hands were to to it proper. IT IS IMPORTANT that you are stretched out and flexible. I cannot do this anymore, but with good flexibilty and a trained with matts you can learn in no time. there are two handed back flips, one handed and if you want one with no hands that is even differant.

then you have to lower yourself into a spring and have very strong calves and low center of gravity as you spring yourself backwards as if on a spring board but your calves are the springs and give it all you got or you will land on your head or something, again use a spotter and matts.

in simple turms arch your bach forward neel ur legs down to about half there length. Then kick of both ur legs and quickly arch ur back backward and bring ur legs up to your stomach then try to land with both feet planted and knees slighly bent to avoid any knee damage
