Keep it clean and also put a warm damp cloth on the area to help keep him comfortable about three times a day and for about ten minutes or more, depending on how long he will allow you to do this. Remember to talk softly to your dog when treating him and to reassure him that all is okay.
Call the vet on Tuesday. He will probably give you a antibiotic cream to put on the area. Your dog probably hurt more when it busted, but the warm cloth will help ease any other discomfort he is having.

Best to you and your dog.

You should call a local vet. They should have emergency numbers or I would call them at home if they are listed in the phone book. Ruptured anal glands are EXTREMELY PAINFUL and need to be flushed out and cleaned. I know you have already cleaned it but it really needs to be looked at because they can properly clean it and prescribe some antibiotics to help with the abscess. If you still cant get to a vet. Keep cleaning it and look at your local Co-op, feed store or pet store for furacin ointment (furazone) it is commonly used for horses and it will help cover and heal the abscess. BUT only use that if you cant get a hold of a vet before tuesday. You need to clean and apply a fresh covering of it at least 2x a day. Clean it thoroughly. And wash your hands thoroughly, actually you should probably use gloves because it is said to increase the risks of cancer (especially in females) but it works great. So people need to take caution when using it. Try to get him to a vet ASAP

Hi, you can not wait until Tuesday. THE PUS IS FLOWING OUT, BUT THE PAIN IS NOT GOING TO GO AWAY!!!
Yes, the pressure has been released, but the sac itself is probably impacted (clogged with a greyish matter), and incredibly infected!! Cleaning it is not enough, the wound needs to be flushed and filled with Panalog. Your dog absolutely needs to be on oral antibiotics ASAP!
I do not know where you live that the vets can take 4 days off with no one on call, but please check with other vets in your area, or even in the next area!! You dog needs medical attention and oral antibitics right away. He is a wee little thing and waiting all that time is really not a good thing!

Now that it's broken it probably doesn't hurt much if at all because the pressure has released.

Hot compresses (not hot enough to cook his butt) and an antibiotic ointment. Neosporin works well on dogs.

I would call in to the vets and see he even wants him brought in when they're open again. The bad part of this is over now that it's past needing incised so he might just tell you to keep using compresses and ointment.

you really need antibiotic to clear up the infection. I would contact an emergency vet. If you don't have the money for that then just keep it clean(using a warm wet wash cloth) and apply anitibiotic ointment. Without professional help it may NOTclear up. I can't beleive your vet is closed for that long, that is crazy.
