The salt is a healin mineral so it kills bactiera and its stops your tooth from bleeding.So my family gargleswith salt water and sometims vinagar to stop a sore throat.It tasts really bad but it rreally works!

because salt is a natural antiseptic and will kill germs that can cause an infection and it will also help speed healing. Also it will help clean your mouth while you cant brush

they are both right, it helps a little with clotting but it cleans without being abrasive so it heals faster. hope this helps
