I am still trying to find the miracle drug and motivation to lose the weight before I get married. A friend of mine says hoodia really decreases her appetite.

I think it's smoke and mirrors. OK here is the deal. Yes hoodia controls your appetite and then you don't eat has much BUT there is no true Hoodia on the market. It's very hard to grown and no company has access to the actual stem pulp. Yeah they get their hands on leaves, mash them up, add some caffeine or something and market it. When the Hoodia really becomes available trust and believe it will be a pharmacology company selling it and you will need a prescription.

I disagree with Erica's mom on several points. First, you can get "real hoodia gordonii" but only in a few specific brands. Alkemist Labs have been doing independent tests on a number of hoodia supplements and they discovered that over 60% of the supplements sold today are fake. They found 6 companies that sell authentic hoodia gordonii. I've provided a link to the page for more information on these tests.

Now, regarding hoodia itself, it may or may not work. At best, it will decrease your appetite but it will not address overeating issues or a bad diet. In other words, if McDonalds is your primary diet and when you eat you tend to order everything super-sized, hoodia isn't going to do much for you. So start with your eating habits (i.e. diet) first.

Hoodia can play an important role as a part of your diet. If you tend to get hungry a lot, then taking a high-quality hoodia supplement may help curb your appetite and get your mind off food.

And just so you know, authentic hoodia gordonii isn't cheap. You'll pay around $60/bottle that will last you between 20-30 days. Companies that are offering free trials or selling their products for dirt cheap aren't selling the "real deal" so avoid them like the plague. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, there are natural food appetite suppressants you can try as well.

Lean protein foods work excellent such as boneless skinless chicken breasts. You can also take whey protein powder, which is very inexpensive and comes in a variety of flavors. It's a powerful appetite suppressant.
