Well first of all what are you thinking that causes you stress? If you work hard to change the way you view things you could relieve yourself of alot of unnecessary stress that can be avoided. The best way to relieve is to stop it before it becomes a problem.Pull the sapling before it grows to a redwood.Think of yourself laying in your casket with your arms folded. What would be a problem then? And when that time arrives all you'll probably think of is how much time you wasted by letting yourself get stressed out instead of rolling with the punches and enjoying life. You have heard of the phase "I think, therefore I am." right? Well that refers to,If I think angry thoughts,I will be angry. If I think sad thoughts,I will be sad.Just work on extracting all and any good out of every situation and before you know it you'll be enjoying what's left of your life.It is the thought that counts you know.Take care and May God Bless You.

My favorite ways to relax: hot bubble baths, have somebody (spouse, boyfriend/girlfriend, friend) give you a nice back or foot rub or go get one done professionally! Sometimes if you are working in a stressful situation (if you don't like your job or something) it helps to do something good for yourself. Like me.... I recently promoted in the company I work for, and I was very nervous and shy the first couple of weeks and a little uncomfortable, it stressed me out.... so I brought a Starbucks Frappucinno with me everyday. Something little that you can look forward to will help you get through a day!

one of the best stress relievers is excercise. it releases endorphines--feel good hormones right within yourself. when you are depressed or stressed it is often hard to motivate. take the extra step, because it is like once you start, and realize how much better you feel, it will become second nature..try something simple, like walking at a good pace, i love water aerobics at the local ymca. yoga is a great stress reducer, look for a class nearby
meditation, you can easily aquire a cd with a guided meditation, either on ebay, barnes and noble, amazon.com
a good b vitamin complex will also help your body handle the stress better, i use a sublingual liquid, no aftertaste.
good luck..this is a very stressful time of year for a lot of us..

Calming music really works for me. Thinking calming thoughts. Making and going to your 'happy place'. Massages. Some light incense (the kind with really strong aromas usually cause more problems like headaches). Some people write stories, start a journal, blog, or read to relieve stress.

A nice warm bubble bath does help. Listen to some really smoothing music.

If you're stress from being overwhelmed with too many things to do, you could make a list while you're bathing.

If it's from emotions, such as anger, exercise is good. Running takes a lot of stuff off my mind and it feels really good afterward.

you might look into amino acids. I find GABA helps. I also have ADD so stimulants help me to calm down. Ritalin was great but I can't get it now. Ephedra was also good but now outlawed. Bitter orange helps some. Coffee has too many side effects. Tea is good but not really strong enough. The new energy drinks are good bu have way too many calories to be used regularly.

Deep breathing techniques.
Massages
Meditation
Reading
Writing

Find things that work for you to allow you to focus on different things. Things that include deep breathing activities. Or things that are helpful because it puts the oxygen deprived cells back on track and allow you to calm down without medication.

Exercise works for some. Doing something that you enjoy. Try yoga if you're into that. Just take some time for yourself and do something that really pampers you.
