I need books on history of ISLAM and seerah of Great Muslims and their life any help ???

For an over view I would suggest Ochsenwald, William and Sydney Nettleton Fisher. The Middle East a History. But all the others will give you more insight. I have used these and more for my research into the Middle East.

1.what "seerah" is
2.that there have EVER been ANY "great muslims" to know anything about

Thats the only one that I have read by myself... the rest were mostly text books from "sunday" school.
I am reading "Trouble with Islam Today" by Irshad Manji now a days.
