I'm pretty sure that its called bourbon chicken because of the color of the sauce but the recipe i make has a lil bourbon in it because i love the flavor!!!

Bourbon Chicken

Ingredients:
2 lb. chicken breast, cut into bite size pieces
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 garlic clove crushed
1/4 tsp. ground ginger

1/4 c. apple juice
1/3 c. light brown sugar
1/4 c. bourbon

The alcohol in the bourbon about 40% of the total liquid evaporates leaving a thick syrupy sauce.

I don't know why it's called that; maybe it's named after a place called Bourbon, just like Buffalo Wings are named after Buffalo, NY.

The sauce contains bourbon. She was probably just being sarcastic when she said there wasn't. They wouldn't call it bourbon chicken if there wasn't any bourbon in it! lol good luck with your question!

I like bourbon chicken from a Chinese place at our local mall, too (but I know we don't live in the same city). I guess it doesn't have bourbon in it, just like grasshopper pie doesn't have grasshoppers in it! Just wanted to tell you that - and thanks for asking the question, I'm putting it on my watchlist to peek at the recipes.
