Can anyone please recommend one or more good "beginner" books about Buddhism? I'm looking for as much practical information as possible, in a very "user friendly" format.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response, royce r, but that's a tad general. I'm asking for specific recommendations precisely because there ARE so many books / e-books to choose from.

Buddha in Your Backpack by Franz Metcalf.

great book that's easy to get into/understand, very interesting even though written for a teenage audience.

Understand that there are many different religions using the Buddah name. just as there are many christion groups and there is a lot of differences in them.

Many of the
Buddah groups are more hindu than Buddah such as the religion practiced in Thailand.

Like all faiths a person can do what ever he or she wants and find a way to justify it.
