When you do an sort of resistance exercise like the bow flex you are gaining muscles and as long as you burn more calories than you take in you will lose weight. OK 3500 calories = 1 lb. If you eat 2,000 calories a day typically you can maybe eat 300 calories less and work out for 30 minutes each day which would likely equal 200 calories and you would have a deficit of 500 calories per day which would equal a pound a week. Well since you are only 14 eating should be pretty cheap if you stay at home. I would try to eat more of the fresh food like veges and fruit, cereals with whole grains and fiber with low fat milk, sandwiches with mustard instead of mayo., and definitely water instead of soda. If you have a salad have a low calorie dressing or just squeeze a lemon over the veges. Make sure to fuel your body eat lean protein like fish and turkey and chicken. Remember you are still growing you need to feed your body with health foods and enough calories to make sure you are healthy. Good Luck.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

OK first thing calm down. Eat everything you normally do, but for the first week - take 1 bite less, the second week, 2 bites less and so on. It seems stupid but the weight will come off slowly - but easily without being hungry. Like instead of an entire candy bar....eat 3/4's of it.

Also, try walking a few extra steps here and there. Take stairs instead of elevators and park further out and walk. Try and walk a little faster. If you hear a song you like come on...dance for 3 minutes. As the weight comes off....you will find motivation.

Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Stop eating what's bad for you. When you get home from school what do you eat? Pizza, chips, candy? Try some fruit or veggies so even when you are craving sweet stuff that (fruit) will fix it. Also, try to be more active. Instead of laying around and watching TV, get out and run around your neighborhood or go to a track. The hardest part is starting it, but once you get on a routine you'll be fine.

The number 140 doesn't mean anything. If you are healthy, don't worry about it. If you have excess body fat, then you need to eat healthier and exercise.
