I think it is mostly the illegal immigrants people are irritated with. We understand the entire better life and everything just do it legally.

As someone who worked for the immigration department, they are here for a "better life" by taking whatever they can get. Many countries have vastly different social systems than ours, and things that most north americans would never think of doing are completely OK in other societies. While say 20+ years ago, people would immigrate to North America and be ready to assimilate, "fit in" and truly become "An American" or "A Canadian", now come here and want to just take every advantage they can, without any true desire to be a patriot. They want all the benefits of citizenship and living in a country with social programs, opportunities, rights, etc. But they don't want to put in any of the money or anything else that our ancestors did.

(Please note that I think the SMALL percentage of people who come here ready to pitch in, be a great citizen and make the country a better place are totally welcome! Use our social programs, but be prepared to pay the taxes for them!)

I think alot of people have feelings of resentment toward ILLEGAL immigrants because they are committing a crime as well as jumping the line of legal immigration.
I work with a number of foreign nationals in the scientific realm and they all come here legally, and what's more, they have to pay to keep up their visa status and fill out lotsa paperwork. They pay thousands of dollars into this, sometimes academic institutions help, but by and large it is their wallet. If they stay after 3 yrs they have to pay up on past taxes and start to pay into our system. To get a green card costs people even more, but they do this willingly and contribute to our way of life. Legal immigrants also have to wait and pay to get their loved ones here as well.
Then millions of other people arrogantly think they're above this process and rush the gate, cut in line, and break our law regarding immigration. Why don't we all just pick a law that inconveniences us? It's a matter of principle, not hate.

While I do not agree with the nativism occuring in the US right now, I think it mostly occurs because Americans feel that the illegal immigrants are "stealing their jobs" and that increased immigration will lead to some sort of "cultural invasion".

To see Las vegas , Manhattan, Disneyland, and for the Money!

or at a Visa counter... For Both Business and Pleasure.

Upon Legality.. as said Above people who work for peanuts,
Do you expect them to forgo a months or 2 salary to turn legal?

Probably the "scare" of paper work and the $$ involved makes them STAY illegal.

It's the people running this country that should be hated, for the influx of people that are not citizens,it's putting a strain on everything, fuel for cars and homes, hospital e.r's.schools,1973 long lines no gas, people fighting in the streets for gas.I just hope no body we no goes to the e.r.new years eve, because there's a good chance they could die before a doctor could look at them, it's pure and simply greed, more people more tax money.

I don't think its "hate", but I cannot speak for everyone, I think its "tired", tired of the illegals here and them taking advantage of the honest tax payers, and seeing them get away with so much and have such disrespect for the United States. The "illegals" bring it upon themselves and since the higher percentage of illegals in the US is Mexican, many legal Mexicans are caught in the shadow of the "Illegalls". But I don't think its hate.??

people hate immigrants because they do sometimes those eww jobs and they use them as scape goats for their own unemplyment.. but also a lot of immigrants are liked here especially if from europe or asia

It's not immigrants that are the problem it's the illegals that take money from the tax base.
