I am 72 pounds, 5"3, 14, and female. I have a very fast metabolism, and I am very skinny. I hate being skinny, because all my friends embarass me, even though they don't know it.
They pick me up, and say that I am as light as a baby, they always ask me how much I weigh, they always ask me to lift up my shirt, and when I do, they tell me I am so skinny, and they can see my bones and my rib cage, and they always ask me, are you anorexic? It is so annoying!
I don't want to gain any weight, but I don't want to lose an either, how can I tell my friends nicely that they are hurting my feelings, and embarassing me, and just because I am skinny doesn't mean I am anorexic?

Uhhh...maybe you should eat something. I don't care how fast your metabolism is, 72lbs is unhealthy.

My wife weighs 72 lbs, is 5'2 and is in the ICU right now. She has a feeding tube and can only take in 1000 calories per day b/c she can't eat real food w/o throwing up. Your metabolism is only half of the equation. It must be balanced against your caloric intake. Even if you are running a marathon every day, you aren't getting enough calories.

Eat lots of carbs (rice, pasta, bread, potatoes). Carbs cause a sugar rush and leave you hungry sooner. Red meat may have more fat, but it takes longer to digest and keeps you satisfied for longer.

Low body weight is just as serious as high body weight, whether it is self-induced or not. It can make you anemic, screw up your menstrual cycle, cause blood pressure problems, heart problems, and lower your immunity to disease. It can also be a factor in surviving catastrophic injury or illness; you need fat reserves to heal. Without a reserve of fat, all of your intake will be divided between healing and regular maintenance. You won't be able to buy health insurance, either.

Like someone said, you will probably gain as you get older, but you need to apply yourself to gaining now. Eat three meals a day at McDonald's for a week, and if you haven't gained any weight, go to a doctor and get on a program.

omg you sound like me when i was younger i had the same problem you did and o man did it suck specially the " are you anorexic" question that one was the worst because i was far from it i would eat a lot as a matter of fact and i still do lol now 18 5'6 108 I'm still thin but hey i got a better body then most of my friends that use to make fun of me now they all gained weight in a bad way you'll see that they will gain weight as they get older and you will too and they will envy you for it you have good gentics that all don't try to gain weight if anything gain muscle can help you a lot more that's what i do.

I used to be skin and bones when I was a teenager. I didn't start gaining weight until I was in my 20s. Then I wished I hadn't gained so much weight. Now I've been trying to be skinny again. Hey, if you FEEL healthy, that's what matters. Try to weather the storm with these people. Some of these things people are ribbing (no pun intended) you about could be construed as sexual harassment. Warn these mean people about this and if they continue, report them. You should never feel embarrassed about your body. People come in all shapes and sizes.

You are 14. No need to worry about gaining weight. You will, and then wish you were skinner.
Guys tend to like thin girls because they are energetic to do activities with. Anybody can sit in front of a computer, how many can do swimming, skiing, other physical activities...that guys are comfortable doing? It is always easier to put on a fat suit (cause you can always take it off)

I have told this to a good number of people who needed to gain weight.and they all gained weight and got to the normal natural weight .they should be at. you take 3 or 4 tablets of alfalfa with each meal it will help digest your food so theres more usable food particles getting into your blood stream for your red cells to utilize and feed your cells of your body with and thus gaining natural good weight.very simple. go get some. and just do it.It WILL work for you.but you must stop completely eating all those sweets and white flour products or it wont work.you must eat real food. whole natural foods.If you have a spastic colon, then e mail me and I will tell you what to do for that.have you ever asked your doctor if you have a spastic colon. sometimes that is why people stay thin.this is a very simple thing to do. so just do it.this is it. take the alfalfa with your meals. dont take these idiots advise about eating junk foods.

these people really dont sound like they're friends. friends would never ask someone to lift up their shirt or ask how much they weigh. im kinda the opposite of you. im 14 5/8 and im polish and have a really round face and sometimes my friends dont know theyre hurting me. next time your friends do those things just say that your trying to get all your weight and your body under control and that you would really apreciate it if they were a little more supportive. if they are true friends theyl be sorry and try to help you.

I have a friend she is in my grade. She is skinny, but that is because she was premature. They did the same thing to her and she started telling them off. Like yall need to stop picking on me because a lot of girls would love to be like me. And they would!! If you look right now to search for how to lose weight, then you will see hundreds of answers. If none of this work, beat them up! But not in school, after school. But see you are young, and it will come to you when you get older. You have ribs showing but my friend has abs. So if none of this work, it least i helped!

Eat lots of fatty foods!

My wife was 5'6" and 95lbs when we met. She's not much more now. When we met she was wearing a dress (out dancing) and she looked elegant. But I have to admit when I saw the thin thin legs it honestly looked painful! But after being with her a while - it was clear she was no anorexic. All that to say - I believe you that you are just naturally thin. You would be rare in any case. But in a nation of fatties getting fatter - you are all the more rare. You're ok.

Just say in a nice calm tone, "You know the way you say things about my weight hurts my feelings. Could you be more sensitive to my feelings?

Anytime that they ask you to do something that will embarass you, kindly tell them, "I'd rather not. Sorry I can't do it." You might want to continue saying something else other than your weight or make some excuses like, "Hey, I gotta go somewhere bye"

You really don't have to do what they want you to do.

Just say kindly what why you don't want to do it.

"I don't want to do it. It's embarrasing. "

my friends always do that to me, im 81pounds, almost 5 foot, and almost 14. ur friends rn't meaning to be mean they probaly just think they are fat so they like to tell everyone how skinny their friend is. my friends are always telling me how skinny i am and that i need to eat before i die. well the problem is i eat allll the time and i don't gain anything. i kno how u feel when ur friends do that cause my friends constantly do that to me in pe and stuff. i don't reallly have an answer i just wanted to tell u that u rn't alone in being skinny and hating it.
