HI
My neighbor just re stuccoed his house. A brownish color, but the cracks in the stucco are lighter and quite visible. I dont want to make the same mistake, what is the best way to hide the cracks??

Thanks,
PB4SC

When I stepped through my roof and had to put up a chunk a drywall, and re-popcorn it, it didn't match at all so I just spraypainted it the color white it was.

I'm sure there is a type of paint out there to fill in the cracks. Also, you may be able to get the crack filler in different colors, mix it to the color you like, or have it mixed professionally to the desired color.

If the cracks are not too wide (hairline, not more than width of a pencil), then just fill them with latex caulk. Apply a small bead of caulk, then smooth the patches using a wet finger carefully so that the caulk doesn't smear outside the cracks and allow the caulk to dry. Then prime and repaint.

If the cracks are much wider, you should probably clean them out with water and a stiff brush, and fill with a stucco patching material per the directions. Prime and repaint.

You need to fill the cracks first with concrete before re-stucco. Ask your hardware or paint store the best product for your area. What works in one part of the country may not be the best for another because of weather.
