I'm 17 and I like an older guy. We've known each other for 4 years but within the past year we've become really good friends. He lives in a different state but he's my neighbor at my summer house. I recently started having feelings for him and I don't know if he has feelings for me. We talk online almost everyday for an hour or more. He's always making fun of me/teasing me but it's always in a nice/friendly way. And he would never let anything happen to me. I invited him to a game I was playing in and he drove an hour to come see me play. But...he's leaving for army training soon and I don't know what to do. I'm kinda shy so I would never have the courage to ask him straight out. How can I tell if he likes me?

He likes you, no doubt. The age gap has nothing to do with how a relationship will turn out. some people may be funny about it, but who cares - you have a guy you love and sounds like he will treat you like number 1.
Life is way too short, you should go for it because he sounds like a nice guy who may feel like he is taking advantage if he were to make the first move.

You should ask him. If he likes you too, you can live happily ever after. If he doesn't feel the same way, it sounds like he cares about you enough to let you know nicely and you won't have to see him once summer is over if your embarrassed. But no guy would spend that much time talking to a girl he didn't like every day.

I believe that since he is going into the Army that I would bring up the subject and see where it goes from there. It may be that since he is going into the Army he would not like to make a commitment right now so be patient or find somebody else.
