About $250 to $300
Tell that person for $800, God is watching.
God Bless you on your wedding.

LOL I shouldn't laugh at Dr.'s answer but I did......
I would think DJ's are like anything else their price would depend on the price of living were you reside. I plan weddings and a DJ typically around me is between 300-500 for 4 hours. Some are much more.

It depends on your location. Here in NYC a DJ can cost more than $1000 for a 4 hour event. Get pricing from some local DJ's and compare. Remember, you get what you pay for!

800 is a good price if it includes all the bells and whistles, fog machine, lights, DJ/EMCEE, good music, good equipment. 300 id be a little worried about the equipment, will it sound good?

I got a deal for a DJ by interviewing quite a few and letting them know I was interviewing more than them, so one of my last ones offered the job for 550.00 for four hours.

I suggest visiting online website such as
http://www.weddinglenox.com ,weddingvendors.com ,onewed.com
Unlike most yellow pages, they have price comparison for vendors (DJ,videographer, florist, and photographer) you can choose.
One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.
I like weddinglenox as they have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page, plus you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.

Anywhere from 400 - 600 is fair. Even with a lot equipment, that's a fair range.

That depends what services you require.
For instance, while most wedding DJs will shag the bride for free, others charge extra.
Some will shag the groom - but you have to ask youself if you really want cheesy 80s electro being played at your wedding.
