I used to have this same problem. Until lately, when I have found a good combination of products....I start with the Herbal Essences Dangerous Straight Shampoo and No more Frizziness Conditioner....then I towel dry my hair and put HairBody by OSSO....It helps give it body and texture, which holds the straightness in my hair and keeps it from being limp, that keeps my hair straight after using the flat iron, but if i want it even straighter (and closer to the head) I spray on Dangerously Straight Flat Iron Spray and then use the flat iron on it....It makes and keeps my hair super super straight. Hope this helps.

a good product to use is Biosilk:Cure Soyeuse. its an oily substance, u use a quarter size of it put it n ur palm and lather it on ur hair after right after straightning it. The bottle costs around $20 at a hair salon or @ Sally's Beauty supply

I think it depends on the amount of curl you have in your hair. if you have a lot of curl and you want your hair to stay straight, you can get a relaxer (the 'perm' spoken of earlier). I'd say go to a professional first, because you can do some serious damage to your hair if it's done improperly.

hair wax or putty is good for that. garnier fructisse makes some good stuff. you put it on before you use your straightener and its heavy enough to keep your hair down and doesnt give it that greasy look that most products do. use more on the ends of your hair to keep it weighted down and less to none on the roots.

I use herbal Eccenses Dangerously straight conditioner. They also have a shampoo for it. You can also use Sunsilk straight conditioner or any type that sort of weighs your hair down.

MAYBE YOUR STRAIGHTEN IRON IS NOT GETTING HOT ENOUGH OR YOU NEED A NEW ONE. AFTER STRAIGHTENING YOUR HAIR TRY BLOW DRYING IT WITH COOL AIR AND THEN ADD A LITTLE BIT (NOT A LOT) OF HAIR SPRAY
