I would say the trumpet or coronet (which is almost the same).
Only because they are small, lightweight (relatively speaking) and have only three keys to operate.

well, if you know how to read both bass and treble clef, playing baritone would be an idea. Has music in both clefs and its basically a mini tuba when it comes to concert. Trombone has 7 positions, and there are 9 possible fingering on an average baritone or tuba. If your the clumsy sort I would not suggest trombone because there could be chances that you would drop the slide, because there is the main trombone with the mouth piece and bell, then the slide, which is not connected with the trombone. Trombone requires more arm muscle (i would think) and tuba and baritone are just finger movement. Plus learning the tuba or baritone, you could double on the trumpet if you really wanted to, no learning. Unless u don't know treble. But if i would have to think about the easiest, probably trombone. Hope this helps and good luck with what ever you choose.

Brain I will put you at ease....Y doesnt know what she is talking about I play both saxophone and brass and saxophone is a woodwind... requirments to be a woodwinds it to use a wood mouthpiece... ok saxophone is a woodwinds... thats like saying a flute is a brass cuz it has no wood but that is becuase in the older days flutes were made of all wood.... you still see wood flutes today...

but now to your question i play mellophone & trumpet and im going to say i love the mellophone but if you are starting out i would first start on the trumpet they are both the same fingerings... but trumpet is lighter and easier to blow in....i would at least TRY mellophone this world does nto have enough mellophone....what instrument do you play now??

I'm in the band and the easiest marching Brass instrument is trumpet.
here's a list( easiest to most difficult)
1.Trumpet
2.Euphonium/(Baritone)
3.Trombone
4. Sousaphone/(Tuba)
5. Mellophone/(french horn)

this is my perspective

*note: the saxaphone is a brass instrument becaus its made out of brass material but due to the fact that it uses wood(the reed) to play..its is also considered a woodwind. it is commonly known as a woodwind instrument

Well, trumpet is fairly lightweight. BUT you have to hold it 10 degrees above parallel, which can get hard.

The tuba rests on your shoulder, but it can get heavy. I think baritone is a good choice too, you don't have to hold it so high. Mellophone has the same fingerings as trumpet, but is heavier than the trumpet. The good thing about mellophone is that it's related to the french horn, one of the most beautiful sounding instruments ever made (yes, that is completely bias, and I'm not even a french horn player!).

I'd say try some of them out and see what you like the feel of in your hand, and the different embochures (the way you blow in the horn). They all have different mouthpieces, and you may like one instrument better than another. If anything, find a friend who wouldn't mind letting you try out his/her horn for a few minutes.

The trumpet is easiest, because it's small, easy to carry, and the hombechure isnt as sensitive. A saxophone is a wood wind and would be harder, because reeds break easily, ecspecially wen marching.

I would go with the mellophone. It's got easy fingerings like a trumpet, and beginners tend to prefer using a tighter ombescure (slaughtered that word) like the mellophone requires. The pretty sound's just a bonus.

it depends on what you mean by easy. trumpet is easy to hold while marching but sucky to start on for marching season because of the range the good parts are written in. you might get stuck on 3rd or 4th part. tuba my seem easy because you get to "rest" it on your shloder but try slingging that baby aroun for visuals or getting your toes up with that weight. Plus your parts aren't that interesting.
I suggest mellophone or baritone. both have ranges that are easy for a beginner and are heavily relied upon in the band. you get fun parts in both and while the baritone is harder to hold up, mellophne gets the tricky runs, growls, wails, and lip frills. Take your pick.

first, a saxophone isnt a brass instrument its a wind instrument. second theyre not easy at all, they have to be carried by a strap on your neck and it doesnt feel good. i call trumpet. maybe tuba because they rest on your shoulder.

Cornet or trumpet is simplest, I think. French horn and trombone are rather difficult. You can try tuba if you can stand carrying it while marching and playing.
