Normally I wouldn't mind but He has tons and tons of junk mail and deletes it all into my computer. I don't know much about computers except that someone told me that nothing ever really gets deleted, that everything gets put into a junk file that takes up space. Is this true? Could his junk mail harm my computer in any way? I feel very uncomfortable about it and have told him several times to pay his bill. He let me use his computer when I didn't have one, so now I feel obligated to let him use mine.

It depends on what kind of e-mail account he has. If he is using the web-based e-mail reader, deleted e-mail will go into a Trash but it won't be on your computer; it'll be on the server where his e-mail is stored. If he uses a program like Outlook or Eudora to read his e-mail on your computer, it could be storing the trash on your computer. But there's little chance that it could harm your computer other than take up space. It's true that your computer could get viruses and stuff if he's not careful about which mail he opens.

Its OK to let his use your computer, but with boundaries. I don't think any harm if he is just reviewing his email and delete the spam. But if you feel uncomfortable I would not let him do much surfing. I would suggest to him to use the computer in a public library for that.

Yes, it's rude. He could easily go to the library and junk up those computers. Tell him to pay his bills and mooch off of someone else.

Well, if you could not decide to refuse him to use your computer for some good reason at least tell him not to delete any email while on your computer but transfer it from inbox to another of his folders to delete it later. It should not offend him and should remove your concern.

The debt is paid. He can't expect to take over your computer just because he let you use his now and again.
Delete the junk and tell him no more.

I agree with the previous posters who said to tell him to use the library computers. It's your computer - you have a say about who uses it, when and why.

Ask him when he is going to pay his phone bill before you lend him your computer

Stand up for yourself. If you don't like it, tell him no. You are risking viruses, etc. into your system.
So I'd say rude of him to expect it; dumb of you if you continue to allow it.
