Mold has been growing in my car for 1 1/2 years now. I can smell it, and it is getting gradually worse. the mold cannot be cleaned up (so please don't suggest ways to clean it); I would need to get rid of the car. Should I do that immediately?

Sorry, I should've phrased my question more specifically: Is this dangerous enough that I should consider it an *immediate* health emergency? (Again, I *cannot* remove the mold; the car would need to be replaced.) Thanks...

Hmmm, interesting question.

I don't know what you imply by "I would need to get rid of the car". Sell it? Junk it?

But here is my two cents:

Since you have been able to live with mold for a year and 1/2, I would say it will do no harm to you in the future (considering it has not harmed you so far). You seem to be immune to it.

I suspect the mold is growing in your upholstery, or, more likely on your carpet. It can be a nuisance, but you can eliminate it (or control it at least).

Because of your strong conviction in your inability to rid yourself of the mold, I think you should just keep the car.

Some car buyers are HIGHLY allergic to mold, and your potential to sell your car to such buyers are very grim.

BTW car sellers are required to report water damage to their cars. If this is your case, and you have reported it to your insurance company, It will be reported in the in the car history.

Good Luck!

The danger of mold exposure varies on the type of mold. If the mold is black or of darker color, there is a good chance it is fatal. I highly reccomend trying an industrial mold killer. If that doesn't work bring your car to an upholstery repair shop.

Mold can be very dangerous it can make people very ill, so if it is growing in your car that you can now smell it, it is time for you to get your car thoroughly scrub down in and out and properly too.

Hi. Not without endangering the buyer, maybe even a kid. Fix it or junk it.
