You need to contact the airline for either a bereavement or medical fare depending on the emergency and what sort of family relation there is.

You need to provide certain information for these fares. Also these aren't "last min cheap deals", it's more like the airlines making it reasonable to get to your loved ones in a crisis. Much against popular belief you can't always just check on orbitz, priceline and expedia and get "cheap".

Also when you do those type of fares through the airlines then they have rules to where you can change your return for no additional money as long as a certain class of service is available. This can come in quite handy on emergencies and if unexpectedly you have to stay longer. Sorry to hear of your troubles, best of luck to you!

Check all the airlines websites about any last minute deals. Also check expedia.com, travelocity.com, or priceline.come. You really buy them just like you would any other airline ticket. You may get a discounted rate if it was a death in the immediate family, but you would have to talk to the airline for that and get the ticket through them.

Contact the airline directly to book your flight. Let them know it is a family emergency or a bereavement type situation. They will give you a reduced rate, but it still won't be cheap. Check with your church. They may have funds set aside to help with those types of expenses.

It depends on the emergency. But I would contact the airlines by phone and find out what their policy is. It is different from airline to airline.
