I find that regular bottled water is a little harsh on my stomach. The sugar in gatorade seems to settle my stomach. So, my question is, would it be ok to drink 1/2 gatorade and 1/2 water instead of 1 full glass of water (8 times a day)?

I think the water is harsh on my stomach because I am allergic to the metals in tap water and I had a lot of trouble with that last year. Sugar was the only thing that really settled my stomach.

No. You need to find a water source that you like, thats not upsetting to your stomach. Do not drink tap water if at all possible. If you are able to buy your drinking water then do so from a supplier you like. Try disani from coca cola. If your capable of investing in your future water needs I recommend an reverse osmosis system. A quality unit will supply 70-90% pure water with 0 minerals from your local tap water. Making the addition of elemental salts necessary. The Foodcoloring and sugars in gatorade take large amounts of water to flush from your body. Drinking 1/2 gatorade1/2 water will over time dehydrade you.

Drinking Gatorade (or half Gatorade, half water) as a substitute to tap water would not be wise. Gatorade contains lots of sugar, calories, and sodium that water does not, and is not nearly as healthy as plain water. If it's the chemicals in the water that bother you, I would suggest buying a Brita water filter and trying that instead. I've noticed that some bottling companies will add chemicals to their water that make it taste a bit harsher than regular water. Trying distilled water (which is free of pretty much everything except water) may not be a bad idea either.

That could work but Gatorade has a lot of salt in it. Maybe try Propel if you like the sugar? That has a lot less salt. You can also drink 1/2 juice and 1/2 water, pick a juice you like and it will have the sugar you want too but natural sugar which is better for you.

gatorade is not recommended for anyone other than hard core athletes because it has a ton of sugar and unnatural things. I am not a huge water fan unless it has lemon in it. I really like those flavored waters from the grocery stores or WalMart though they have splenda or aspartamne. I figure that is better that a super sugary drink! Aquafina water that is flavored is pretty good too.

gatorade is only recommended for people who are always on-the-go. If you are always active, if you are doing exercises -- it is a substitute for water. However, if your just a couch potato or not doing any strenuous work, it is not recommended as an alternative to water because it may damage your liver. FYI, you can also drink gatorade if your having headaches -- a good alternative than taking over the counter medications.

NO. it can make you fat if your not active no matter how little you drink it. If you really don't like the taste of water then just buy some flavored water. You can get that at any super market including Wal-Mart. And it won't make you gain weight yet it has a flavor.

A better substitute is to add lucozade powde. It neutilises the harshness of the water (my doctor recommended it and it really works!)
