Grasping at straws here. How do I search for the birth of someone, w/o knowing a name or date of birth? All I know is the fathers name and about what year this person was born? Think they might have been born in Springfield.

That's where you start. If you have family start networking to find out more, there are places on line that charge a fee but there quick. Good luck...

If you know his wife's name you might be able to find a marriage license.
Otherwise call the county clerk's office & ask them if they can help you. Call the operator for the phone #. If she/you don't know the name of the county, call Springfield for it.
