Be thankful and grateful that someone cares enough to leave you a gift even if it IS anonymous. I would also mention it to everyone you see and speak to during the next week or two. You can say that you have received such a wonderful surprise, but that you haven't a clue who it's from...and that you sure would love to know who has been so sweet, so that you could thank them. Even if the person doesn't own up, they'll know how much you appreciated the gesture!

I understand the thinking behind the anonymous gift is that they person does not want acknowledgement for giving it. It puts an added task on the reciever, however. Someone who has not recieved a gift this way does not understand that. You go around day by day with a thought, what if I was not always nice to the individual who did such a nice thing for me, etc. IN my opinion, it is worse to recieve such a gift that way.
Most people think they are stopping you from having the burden of changing your opinion of them by whether or not they give a gift. IN my opinion: it is also a lie and does not let you know the trueness of the individual. I much prefer to know the people who are generous.
I would just accept the gift, and not dwell on it. HOWEVER, I'm not sure if you are considering GIVING one (if you are PLEASE DON"T). If you have recieved one: (count your blessings, and enjoy without thinking too much about it).

Take it as a gift, no questions asked. Hey, someone wants to be nice to me without me knowing, why go and upset them by me knowing?!

depends on the gift.....if it's cutsie...i'd be sorta excited and scared cuz it could be from a creep.....but i would hope it was from some cute, sweet guy i liked

As long as I had a good clue as to who it was likely from...I'd love it. If it was from a total stranger/stalker, then I'd watch my back.
