It's PC speak for "that" holiday that is so insensitive to those who don't participate in it.

After all, we can't *gasp* offend anyone!

(Except those who actually participate in "that" insensitive holiday. Offend them all day long.)

Happy holidays means happy holidays. What bothers most Christians (and hopefully most Americans as well) is that it is being used as a politically correct way to fight christians rights to free speech.

For the last couple of years, people have been publicaly insulted for choosing to say Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. Why should anyone care if I decorate my house with a giant sign that says "Merry Christmas?"

You can say Happy Holidays if you want to. I won't be angry at you. Just don't get mad if I say Merry Christmas.

It means wear tie dyed Indian type clothes, burn some incense sticks and grow an avocado pip in a glass on your window sill.

"Holidys" is Australian or New Zealand pronunciation.

It's a generic greeting that is supposed to be politically correct and not offensive to anyone.
As a Christian, I would rather you wish me Happy Hannuka, or Happy Kwanzaa, or anything but the bland, meaningless Happy Holiday.

The word "Holidays" is a shortened form of the two words...holy days.
So, these days in their original context were holy & sacred to a perticular religion.
wishing someone a happy holiday means you're hoping they enjoy themselves on this particular day.

the phrase "happy holidays" is the politically correct way to wish someone a merry christmas, happy hannukah, happy kwanza, happy yule, or what ever they celebrate without risking offending them. the only ones that really take offense by it are the jehovah's witnesses, as they don't celebrate any of those.
