I'm thinking I would lean towards the physical pain.

As a child I learned to "zone out" in church and contemplate intelligent things, so I'd probably opt for the eternal church service.
Weird question.

I cannot conceive of eternal anything. I am a finite being with a finite life span. But if I had to choose between a torture session of indeterminate length, and a church service of indeterminate duration, I would choose the latter.
