Hello. Here's how on US Airways:
Select your flight and enter in your personal information (name, address, phone number...). Below the Passenger Information box, click the Select Your Seats button. Click on the seat you wish.

www.seatguru.com and it will help tell you WHICH seats are the best in each cabin! It tells you which seats have limited recline, whcih are close the bathrooms and galleys (too noisy), which are over wings, which have no windows, etc.
